Halloween Sales 2009 - According to retailers about Halloween sales will be down for 2009. A National Retail Federation survey shows 62 percent of Americans plan to celebrate Halloween this year, down from 64 percent last year. Shoppers are also expected to spend 15% less this year, with average sales sliding from about $67 in 2008 to around $56 in 2009.

Inside the Spirit Halloween Superstore in Wayzata, owner Dick Cohn is optimistic. "Over the years, we've learned when times are tough, business is still pretty good," said Cohn. Cohn is also hoping with Halloween falling on a Saturday, it will help offset any weak sales because of the economy.
